Youth 411

If you are age 14-25 and homeless or at risk for being homeless, come on by or call us at 373-4357 (HELP). Our Gathering Grounds Café is open from9AM-4PM Monday through Friday and 10AM-3PM on Saturday. Case Management is available from 8 am-5 pm.

We offer a hot supper from 3-4pm every day for any homeless youth age 14-24 who are hungry. This is available to both clients and non-clients with no strings attached. It is staffed by volunteers who both cook and join clients for a meal, visiting and sharing.

Case management services are offered on a first-come, first served basis, and are a “hand up not a hand out”, meaning that clients will have a plan for goals and the expectation that they will work their plan and gain forward progress with support from staff. MY House Case Management offers food, clothing, shower and laundry services, employment services, public health care, mediation services, help with legal issues and support and referral for mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Substance abuse assessments can be done on site as needed by a Masters level Social Worker, and are accepted at local treatment programs, facilitating a fast track to treatment and recovery for clients.

Ten beds of transitional housing are available on a first-come basis. If there is space in housing you may be able to enter the day you walk in. Requirements for housing include sobriety and payment of affordable rent. If you are not able to maintain sobriety, a referral for treatment can be made and you will then have access to Recovery Housing that is part of a peer to peer support program and facilitates success in treatment and long term recovery. Both housing projects are supported by MY House and services such as transportation can be coordinated through case management.

We do reserve the right to refuse service to those who are disrespectful and/or rude to staff or other clients, clients who are clearly inebriated, or suspected of dealing drugs to our clients as this behavior is not part of a success plan and sabotages our efforts to create a friendly and supportive climate. Inebriated clients will be offered assessment and treatment options, support and the opportunity to have their immediate needs met. We cooperate with local EMT services as well as law enforcement to keep our campus safe, and expect clients to behave respectfully at all times.

Our on-site partnership with Nine Star offers employment assistance, high school completion and GED courses. Public Health in the building offers STD and pregnancy testing, as well as referral and consultation for medical concerns.

We partner with outside resources for medical care, dental care, mental health services, addiction evaluation and treatment, job skills training and workshops, housing assistance and legal advice.
